Kallayar

Kallyar Tea Estate, one of the Jayshree Tea’s twin estates of Solayar and Kallyar in southern part of India is located in the picturesque Anamallai Hills famous for its beauty and also having the distinction of being India’s highest tea yielding region. The average elevation of these estates is 3500 to 4000 feet above MSL and the annual rainfall varies between 110 – 150 inches. The minimum temperature falls to 60C and the maximum temperature goes up to 290c during summer. This district has two growing season, April to June and Oct to Dec.

Acquired by Jayshree Tea & Industries Ltd. in 1946 from the Managing Agent M/s Harrisons & Cross field, this estate is one of the earliest purchased properties of the company. The total planted area for both these estates put together is 1730.05 acres, most of it planted during the First World War time from 1914 to 1918. The estate is one of the first to get ISO 9002 certification for both plantation and tea factories and also the first to introduce CTC type of manufacturing in South India.

The Estate is well accessible by road and is 110 kms from Coimbatore and 150 kms from Kochi.

The Kallyar Tea estate produces finest of teas from south India including much in demand Green tea, CTC teas from national and international buyers.
